Norton Rose advises Domtar Corporation on €180million acquisition of the Attends Healthcare Group

International legal practice Norton Rose Group has advised Domtar Corporation on its €180million acquisition of Attends Healthcare from Rutland Partners. The transaction which is subject to German regulatory approval is expected to close in the first quarter of 2012.
This was Domtar Corporation’s first substantial acquisition outside North America and now consolidates Domtar’s ownership of the Attends brand on both sides of the Atlantic. Attends Europe operates in the consumer products/health care sector and sells, manufactures and distributes adult incontinence products in nine European countries. Attends operates a world-class manufacturing, research and development and distribution facility in Aneby, Sweden and also operates distribution centres in Scotland and Germany.
Chris Pearson, lead corporate partner on the deal, commented:
“This was a complex cross border transaction which utilized resources from across our network. Our client a U.S. listed corporation was buying a European business which had significant business interests in the UK, Germany, Belgium and Holland, among others. The relevant parts of the Norton Rose network were therefore called into action.”
