Norton Rose boosts dispute resolution in Asia-Pacific
19 January 2010
Norton Rose Group, the international legal practice, announced today that head of dispute resolution for Norton Rose Australia, Peter Cash, is to join the Norton Rose Singapore office in May 2010.
Peter joins from the Melbourne office of Norton Rose Australia. His expertise includes large-scale disputes involving substantial discovery and trans-national evidence collection. Between 2004 and 2008, Peter led the successful defence of a $700 million claim made against GlaxoSmithKline, directing a team which included 20 solicitors, 11 counsel and more than 100 paralegals.
Antony Dutton, Practice Head of Dispute Resolution commented:
“Peter is a significant part in our strategy for the growth of the global dispute resolution team in Asia-Pacific. It will support the practice’s broader regional expansion and provide further strength to our offering in Singapore and the wider region. Singapore is increasingly important as a regional centre for the resolution of cross border disputes. Peter’s move will further strengthen our reputation for this type of work in particular for international arbitration.”
Peter Cash, Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution, Norton Rose Australia commented:
“Singapore’s status as a regional hub for South East Asia and India continues to grow and I am excited about the opportunities that the move offers me. I intended to concentrate on high end disputes on behalf of major financial institutions and corporates concentrating in particular in the life sciences sectors. “
David Stannard, Head of Asia commented:
“The Asian region is a major strategic growth area for our dispute resolution practice. We intend to grow our offering to clients by promoting internal candidates, making lateral hires and re-locating our partners wherever in the world the business opportunities lie.”
The move by Peter Cash follows the recent recruitment of Camille Jojo from Barlow Lyde Gilbert in June 2009 and the promotion of Ruth Cowley to the partnership in May 2009.
