Norton Rose announces 11 partnership promotions

International legal practice Norton Rose Group is promoting 8 Senior Associates and 3 Of Counsel. The new partner promotions take effect from 1 May 2010 for Norton Rose LLP and from 1 July 2010 for Norton Rose Australia.

Peter Martyr, Group Chief Executive, Norton Rose Group commented:

“We have continued to grow steadily this year across our international offices. We have 11 new internal promotions this year to add to the 16 laterals, including 5 in Australia”.

The promotions will create four new partners in London, two in Singapore, two in the Middle East (Riyadh and Abu Dhabi), two in Australia (Brisbane and Melbourne) and one in Athens.

There will be seven new partners in corporate, one in real estate, one in dispute resolution, one in employment and one in tax.

We are continuing to reinforce our major practice areas and in particular our energy and financial institutions business with these promotions.

Details of the new partners are as follows:

Dimitris Assimakis (Athens)

Dimitris is a corporate lawyer based in Athens, specialising in energy regulatory work. His practice area is complementary to both the corporate and finance practices of the Athens office, in addition to the Norton Rose Group key strength of Energy.

Chris Grieves (London)

Chris is a corporate finance lawyer based in London. He is an experienced cross-border public and private M&A and ECM lawyer with particular experience of acting for major international corporate clients and major international investment banks.

Nigel Hewitson (London)

Nigel Hewitson is Head of Planning and part of the London Environment, Safety and Planning team. He has over 20 years of experience in the provision of planning advice, advising both public and private sector clients on all aspects of planning law as well as related fields such as compulsory purchase and highways law.

KC Lye (Singapore)

KC is a dispute resolution lawyer based in our Singapore office, specialising in international arbitration. He has been involved in a wide variety of contested matters in South East Asia and handles high-value disputes from a range of industry sectors, with a focus on energy disputes, aviation disputes and commercial fraud.

Darran McGlinchey (Riyadh)

Darran McGlinchey is a corporate finance lawyer based in our Riyadh office. He specialises in all aspects of corporate finance including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital markets, investment funds and general corporate matters. He advises a variety of financial institutions, corporates, private equity houses and governmental organisations.

Jason Moss (London)

Jason is a corporate finance lawyer based in the London office. He specialises in public and private mergers and acquisitions, alternative investment and ECM and has particular experience in the real estate, mining and metals and energy sectors.

Michael Park (Melbourne)

Michael is a corporate lawyer based in our Melbourne office. He specialises in technology, telecommunications, intellectual property and infrastructure matters, particularly transactional, regulatory and advice work. He often advises on complex outsourcing, procurement and services projects. His appointment further strengthens the Norton Rose Group’s Technology team in the Asia Pacific region.

Murray Procter (Brisbane)

Murray is an employment lawyer based in Brisbane. He specialises in all aspects of employment law, industrial relations, anti-discrimination, superannuation and workers’ compensation.

Angela Savin (London)

Angela is a tax lawyer in the London office. She has a particular focus on tax litigation, Islamic finance, securitisations and structured finance. She acts for major banks and has advised HM Treasury in relation to the UK Sukuk regime. She is particularly involved in acting for financial institutions.

Patrick Watson-Thorp (Abu Dhabi)

Patrick is a corporate finance lawyer based in Abu Dhabi specialising in the development of investment funds. Patrick has also advised on a wide range of corporate finance matters, including private company mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets and joint ventures. His primary focus is on the financial institutions sector.

Daniel Yong (Singapore)

Daniel is a corporate finance lawyer based in Singapore with experience in transactional matters relating to mergers and acquisitions, public and private equity fund raising, financial transactions and other corporate matters. He has acted for a variety of clients worldwide in the finance, energy and telecommunications industries among others.
