On Friday, riders and volunteers travel from Calgary to Jasper. Cycling begins the next day, with riders travelling 153 kilometres from Jasper to Saskatchewan Crossing. On Sunday, riders travel 137 kilometres further to finish in front of a cheering crowd in Banff. Volunteers and support vehicles are with the riders along the route to provide support, water and snacks.
To ensure that 100% of funds raised go to the charities, Norton Rose Canada covers all expenses for the Ride For Kids weekend. In exchange, each rider strives to exceed a personal fundraising goal of $4,000, raising funds from family, friends, co-workers and colleagues to ensure the Ride successfully meets its campaign target.
The Ride For Kids is open to cyclists of all abilities, but training is highly recommended.
