John Wood

John Wood is an energy lawyer based in London. He specialises in the physical and financial trading of gas, power, coal and related products such as carbon emissions allowances. He is an expert in the UK energy regulatory framework and has considerable experience of negotiating tolling agreements and complex structured long-term power and gas contracts. Increasingly John's practice focuses on renewables and clean energy projects, including biomass.
John acted for The Crown Estate on structuring and negotiating the UK Round 3 offshore wind farm programme and has advised on many landmark offshore wind farm transactions. He has also advised on a significant number of gas storage projects.
John has a science degree and worked in the chemical industry for ten years before turning to the law. He worked in-house at TXU Europe for seven years before joining our London practice in 2001.
John is a member of RenewableUK's Economics and Markets Strategy Group.
