Mike Knapper is a specialist intellectual property and technology lawyer based in our London office. He is Head of Intellectual Property, EMEA.

Mike advises on all aspects of intellectual property and data protection law. His practice includes advising on the protection and exploitation of patents, trade marks, copyright, design rights, database rights, know-how and confidential information.

Mike has extensive experience of advising on rights acquisitions, technology transfer, licensing and agency and distribution arrangements, including in the context of mergers and acquisitions and joint venture transactions. He regularly advises on strategies for the protection and exploitation of brands and innovation, on marketing and advertising law and on data protection compliance strategies. His clients include technology start-ups, public sector bodies and multinational household names.

Mike joined the practice in 2006 as a partner from The Thomson Corporation (now Thomson Reuters), the multinational publisher and online information provider, where he was assistant European Counsel.

Mike has a degree in Chemistry from Bristol University, where he was awarded the 1995 ICI prize. He is a member of INTA, ECTA, the Society for Computers and Law and represents us on IPLA and the City of London Law Society IP sub-committee.
