Alan Bainbridge is a corporate finance lawyer based in Abu Dhabi. He specialises in domestic and cross-border mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and corporate restructurings and has a particular focus on the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Alan acted for Marubeni Corporation on its purchase of a 20 per cent stake from GdF Suez in Ruwais Power Company, the project company raising financing for the proposed US$2.4 billion Shuweihat S2 independent water and power project in Abu Dhabi. He also advised Drax Group, owner of Western Europe’s biggest coalfired station on its listing on the LSE. This involved a £1bn restructuring effected through parallel schemes of arrangement in three jurisdictions. Alan also acted for Hong Kong's Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings in relation to the £1.4 billion acquisition of the North of England gas distribution network business from Transco, and the subsequent on-sales of 19.9 per cent and 9.9 per cent interests in the consortium vehicle.
