Andrew Abernethy is a mergers and acquisitions, investment funds and capital markets lawyer based in Hong Kong. His experience includes advising on international M&A, particularly cross-border transactions and a range of equity and convertible securities offerings.

Andrew acts for sponsors and principals in a range of transactions, including US, Asian and MENA stock and asset sales, recapitalisations, restructurings, joint ventures, partnerships, and other structured solutions.

In 2007 and 2008 Asialaw named Andrew as a leading mergers and acquisitions lawyer in its guides to Asia’s leading lawyers, citing market feedback that “Andrew brings a very strong commercial perspective to transactions and has a natural flair for negotiation strategy”. In 2007 and 2008, Australasian Legal Business identified Andrew as a leading lawyer in the energy and resources sector with clients commending the “great expertise he brings to all tasks”. In 2008 ALB named Andrew as one of Australasia’s “Hot 40” lawyers and one of Asia’s “Hot 100” lawyers. In 2009, Andrew advised the shareholders of Bahrain Financing Company, Bahrain Exchange Company and EzRemit Ltd on their sale to Unicorn Investment Bank B.S.C (c) - a deal that was awarded the M&A deal of the year by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR).

Andrew has law degrees from Victoria University (New Zealand) and The University of Chicago and is admitted in New York and England & Wales.
