Rorisang Mongoato
Associate
Rorisang Mongoato is a banking and finance lawyer based in Johannesburg. Rorisang’s broad experience includes commercial, banking and finance, debt capital markets and tax law. She currently specialises in general banking and finance work.
Rorisang joined the practice in 2012. She completed her articles of clerkship with a leading South African law firm in 2007.
Rorisang moved to New York in 2010 where she spent 18 months working for a leading US law firm as an associate in the their capital markets and banking and finance departments.
Rorisang holds a BA LLB from Rhodes University and a LLM (Commercial Law) and a Certificate in Investment and Finance from the University of the Witwatersrand.

Rorisang’s recent experience includes:
- Part of a team that advised Goldman, Sachs & Co, Deustche Bank Securities Inc. and J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, in their capacity as underwriters, on the issue of $300 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes issued by Zions Direct Inc. through an online auction process.
- Part of a team that advised Warburg Pincus LLC, an international private equity fund, on the issue by Rural/Metro Corporation, of $200 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes under Rule 144A/Reg S as part of the leveraged buy out of Rural/Metro Corporation by Warburg Pincus. Further advised Warburg Pincus on Rural/Metro Corporation’s issue of an additional $108 million aggregate principal amount of senior notes to finance the acquisition by Rural/Metro Corporation of Professional Medical Transport, Inc. and its affiliated companies.
- Advised Citigroup Funding Inc. in its periodic issue of various structured products under its Medium-Term Subordinated Notes, Series E Program. Advised on the launch, pricing and issue of amongst others, $150 million Synthetic Buy-Write Notes Based on the Common Stock of General Electric Company due 2012 and $13 million Leading Stock Market Return Securities based on the value of the S&P 500® Index due 2015.

Rorisang has published articles on South African commercial law and is a fellow of the South African Visiting Lawyer Program of the Cyrus R Vance Centre for International Justice (an association of the Bar of the City of New York).
