Michael Ings is a banking lawyer based in London. He specialises in communications, media and technology finance, acquisition finance and restructurings. He has represented both lenders and borrowers in more than 50 domestic or multi-jurisdictional limited recourse project finance transactions.

Michael who has been described in The Legal 500 as “untouchable for telecoms finance work” and “exactly what we need from a banking lawyer” by Chambers and Partners, leads a team which represents both lenders and borrowers on a wide spectrum of telecoms focused deals. These range from advising on the provision of loan financing in connection with the acquisition of the GTS Central Europe Group (with subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia) and subsequently the refinancing of the facilities provided in connection with the acquisition, to advising Citibank N.A. on the provision of export credit backed financing for Vodafone plc, to advising Standard Bank plc as global coordinator of facilities for Wataniya Palestine Mobile Telecommunications Company in relation to its establishment of a mobile telecommunications network in Palestine, to acting for the Standard Bank of South Africa Limited, KFW Ipex-Bank GmbH, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and a syndicate of 15 Nigerian Banks in relation to the medium term financing of MTN Nigerian Communications Limited and to advising Emerging Markets Telecommunications Services Limited (Etisalat Nigeria) on its first external bank debt financing.

Michael joined the London practice in 1983, qualified as a solicitor in 1985 and became a partner in 1994.
