Jeremy Gibb is a leading asset finance lawyer based in Tokyo. He is experienced in the sale and purchase and financing of all kinds of assets and his particular expertise is in complex cross-border financing structures.
Jeremy has represented banks, export credit agencies (ECAs), lessors, airlines and shipping companies in financing aircraft, ships, offshore vessels, rail rolling stock, car plant equipment, buses, containers, telecoms equipment and paper mills using all manner of financing structures. This includes single bank and syndicated debt facilities (often ECA-backed), UK, US, Japanese and German leasing facilities, joint venture transactions, high yield note issues and receivables transactions.
Jeremy read law at Kingston University and then took a Masters Degree at Trinity Hall, Cambridge specialising in international maritime and finance law. He was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales 1985, became a partner with another City of London legal practice in 1992 and joined us as a partner in 1995. Jeremy is registered with the Japanese Bar Association as a Gaikokuho-Jimu-Bengoshi (registered foreign lawyer) to practise English law in Japan.
