Tom is a leading practitioner in tourism and hospitality, servicing the legal needs of Australia’s $85 billion tourism industry. He is also the founder of the practice’s national airport and aviation team, now consolidated into one global aviation legal team.
Based in Brisbane, Tom is an active member of the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, Tom has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry and he continues to work with some of Australia’s largest tourism, hospitality and entertainment industry players, including Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC), Virgin Blue, ING Entertainment Fund, Brookfield Multiplex, Campari and Hamilton Island Enterprises.
Tom assisted BAC in its terminal leasing, development of revenue precedent documents, licensing arrangements for 27 outlets at both the international and domestic terminals, assisted with the roll out of development at BAC’s Airport Village. He is also involved in major tourism infrastructure projects including hotel and resorts, advising from the initial development stage (including approvals) through to the operational and management stage.
Tom is regularly invited by the Commonwealth and state governments to comment on government policy and legislative changes and present at industry events. He is founding editor of our publications “Our Shout”, a periodical designed specifically for the Tourism Industry, and “The Hub”, a monthly publication about legal issues relevant to the aviation industry.
