Key industry sectors

Michael Godden is a dispute resolution lawyer based in London. He specialises in banking and finance disputes and has a particular focus on derivatives, structured finance and Islamic finance disputes and cross border civil fraud, asset tracing and enforcement cases. He regularly acts for derivatives dealers and corporate trustees in respect of defaults and disputes arising out of debt capital markets transactions.

His current matters include acting for the Liquidators of Britannia Bulk plc in a Commercial Court claim for US$25 million against Pioneer Navigation Limited in respect of forward freight agreements. The case raises important questions about the interpretation of the FFABA 2007 terms and the 1992 ISDA Master Agreement.

He is the co-author of the first edition of Commercial Enforcement which is the leading textbook on the execution of English judgments. He is described by Legal 500 UK as “very thoughtful and a good strategist”.
