Norton Rose LLP hosts City Slog for fifth year
17 August 2012
International legal practice Norton Rose LLP will be hosting its fifth City Slog event on Wednesday 12th September 2012 at the Honourable Artillery Company in Moorgate. The annual cricket tournament is being held to raise money for Cricket for Change, a charity that helps the development of disadvantaged young people through cricket.
Last year over 100 cricket enthusiasts from around the Square Mile attended the event, which involves four cricket teams formed of various players from around the City, all competing for victory. This year the teams will be led by former England cricket players Norman Cowans, Angus Fraser, Devon Malcolm and Graham Thorpe.
The day will begin with the four teams playing two matches, followed by play-offs between the winning and losing teams. The tournament will end with an awards presentation and barbeque.
Jeffery Barratt, partner at Norton Rose LLP and the driving force behind the event, comments:
“It’s great to bring the City together and at the same time raise money for Cricket for Change. We’ve become involved with Cricket for Change through our Together for Sport initiative, which is aimed at supporting sports groups targeting disadvantaged and disabled children and young people in the local area.”
“City Slog has become a fixture in the City’s calendar and this year’s tournament is set to be another thoroughly enjoyable day while raising funds for a very worthy cause in the process.”
