Richard Charney elected Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers

Norton Rose Canada is pleased to announce that Richard Charney has been elected a Fellow of The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. This honour is one of the highest recognitions by ones’ colleagues of sustained outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence. Rick is a senior partner at Norton Rose Canada, Global Practice Leader of Norton Rose Group’s employment and labour practice and Toronto chair of the firm’s Canadian employment and labour law group.
Rick will be formally welcomed as Fellow in November 2012 in Atlanta. He is the first partner from Norton Rose Group to be inducted. The College is represented by 1,200 members in six provinces, 43 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. The College recognizes those who, by long and outstanding service, have distinguished themselves as leaders in the field.
Rick is consistently ranked in authoritative legal and employment and labour guides and directories, including Best Lawyers in Canada, PLC Which Lawyer?, Martindale-Hubbell, Guide to the World’s Leading Labour and Employment Lawyers and Lexpert. He won the Walter Owen Book Prize in 1999 for the co-authored book Judicial Review in Labour Law, which is updated annually. Rick recently wrote the chapter “Judicial Review of Arbitral Decisions” in the 2009 Collective Agreement Arbitration in Canada. Since 2006, Rick has been an Adjunct Professor in the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Law, where he teaches advanced labour law.
