Top-flight mining and China lawyers join Norton Rose Canada

Norton Rose Canada announced today that six new lawyers focused on mining and China have joined the firm. They also bring a great deal of strength in M&A, corporate financing, inbound and outbound investment to Canada and international business throughout Asia and globally.

The six new lawyers joining Norton Rose Canada are:
David McIntyre, partner
David is a business lawyer with an international practice focused on the mining and natural resources sectors. David will have an active role in the firm’s China initiative. Previously, David has served as deputy general counsel and vice-president marketing at Vale S.A., one of the world’s largest mining companies, and on the board of directors of junior mining companies and industry organizations.
Robert K. Mason, partner
Rob represents issuers and underwriters on corporate finance transactions and M&A mandates, with a particular emphasis on the mining and natural resource sector. He has recently led offerings by issuers located in South Africa, Australia, the UK and Canada.
Janet Howard, partner
Janet’s practice focuses on public and private M&A and corporate finance transactions with an emphasis on mining and natural resources. She has recently advised Canadian and Chinese clients with plans of arrangement and on friendly and contested take over bids. Janet also advises boards of directors and assists with stock exchange listings and corporate governance best practices.
Janet Lee, partner
Janet specializes in a broad range of corporate and commercial work, including M&A, acquisitions and dispositions of real properties, renewable energy projects and commercial lending. She advises Chinese state-owned enterprises, sovereign wealth funds, private companies and Chinese-Canadian businesses on their investments and operations in Canada. Janet is proficient in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), and is able to deliver legal services in both English and Chinese.
Yufei Luo, Chinese lawyer
Yufei’s practice focuses on representing Chinese clients investing in Canada’s resource sector, specifically in Chinese corporate law, securities law, M&A, private equity, corporate finance and banking. She is qualified to practice Chinese law.
Lei Huang, Chinese lawyer
Lei’s expertise is in business law, M&A, private equity and public market financings. He was educated in law in both China and Canada and serves Chinese clients with their needs in Canada, as well as Canadian clients’ needs in China.
