Winner: The Lawyer Awards Competition/Regulatory Team of the Year 2012

International legal practice Norton Rose LLP has won the award for Competition/Regulatory Team of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2012.
The accolade was given jointly to Norton Rose LLP and the other firms advising the co-appellants in a successful appeal against a decision by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT). The case concerned alleged anti-competitive pricing practices for tobacco products in the UK by major tobacco suppliers and a number of leading retailers.
Norton Rose LLP advised the UK supermarket group Asda (part of Wal-Mart) in the appeal, which was one of the most significant competition law cases in the UK last year. The judgment from the Competition Appeal Tribunal in December 2011 quashed the OFT's decision in relation to the appellants and overturned the fines which the OFT had imposed on them.
The Norton Rose LLP team was led by Mark Jones (partner) working with Peter Scott (partner), assisted by Caroline Thomas (senior associate), Ian Giles (senior associate), Mark Daniels (associate), Yasmine Gaspard (associate), and Celine Fang (associate).

The awards ceremony took place on Tuesday 26 June 2012.
