Norton Rose advises Brebemi on increase of bridge loan for major Italian highway project
20 February 2012
International legal practice Norton Rose Studio Legale has advised the project company Brebemi S.p.A. as borrower on the increase of a bridge loan granted in 2009 to finance the realisation of a large highway project in Northern Italy, the Brescia-Bergamo-Milan Direct Motorway (the Brebemi Motorway).
The bridge loan, increased from €350 million to €546 million, has been granted by Banca Infrastrutture Innovazione e Sviluppo, Centrobanca - Banca di Credito Finanziario e Mobiliare, UniCredit and MPS Capital Services Banca per le Imprese, the mandated lead arrangers for the limited recourse financing of the motorway project. The increase of the bridge loan is part of the more complex task still underway regarding the structuring of the overall project financing for the Brebemi Motorway. Once completed, the Brebemi Motorway will be a key part of the Italian road transport system.
The Norton Rose Studio Legale team was led by Milan-based partner and head of the Norton Rose Studio Legale banking team Arturo Sferruzza and also included associates Elisabetta Negrini and Marina Adessi.
The banks were advised by Ashurst, with partner Franco Vigliano and associates Simone Egidi, Nunzio Bicchieri and Federica Periale.
