Before you join us, depending on your academic background, you'll need to take the LPC and CPE (also known as GDL) courses. These will help you tackle the challenges you'll face as a City lawyer.
We ask all of our future trainees to study the LPC at BPP in London. The LPC offered by BPP has been designed by a group of five City practices (Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Herbert Smith, Lovells, Slaughter and May and us). The course is focused on the law essential to commercial transactions to ensure you have the best foundation for your training contract.
Students who have not completed an exempting law degree need to complete the conversion course (Graduate Diploma in Law or Common Professional Exam). This also applies to students who have studied law at a Scottish university and to those who have done a law degree in an international jurisdiction if it is not recognised as a qualifying law degree by the Law Society.
If you need further information regarding the status of your international qualifications, please contact the Law Society of England & Wales on +44 (0)20 7242 1222.
Our future trainees who need to do the law conversion course can choose which provider they prefer for the course.
