Norton Rose announces new corporate insurance partner and of counsel in Paris
4 June 2012

International legal practice Norton Rose LLP has today announced the appointment of Bénédicte Denis as a corporate partner in the Paris office. Bénédicte joined the practice on 1 June 2012 from the Paris office of Hogan Lovells.

Bénédicte specialises in advising financial services and insurance industry clients on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues relating to their operations in France, including new business set ups, licensing requirements and product regulation. She also has significant expertise in advising on both domestic and cross-border corporate transactions.

Along with Bénédicte, Norton Rose LLP has also appointed Orsolya Hegedus as an Of Counsel in the corporate team of the Paris office. Orsolya joins the team from Gide Loyrette Nouel, and specialises in corporate, regulatory and litigation insurance matters.

The addition of Bénédicte and Orsolya will strengthen Norton Rose LLP’s offering in France, adding significant financial services capabilities to the existing corporate team.

James Bateson, Head of Financial Institutions at Norton Rose LLP, commented:

“Our experience advising financial institutions is one of the core strengths of our practice. We advise many of the world’s leading financial institutions, the majority of which have important operations in France. The addition of Bénédicte and Orsolya will mean that we are now even better placed to serve them.”

Bénédicte Denis commented:

“Norton Rose Group has an enviable record in advising a wide range of financial institutions across the world. It’s a market characterised by its global nature, and so it’s extremely exciting to be joining a practice with such strong international capabilities. Also, in terms of values and culture, I sense it will be a perfect fit for me”

Orsolya Hegedus commented:

“Norton Rose has a good reputation for the strength of its insurance team across its network. It’s a busy sector in the current climate, and one that’s set to see more changes in the next few years. I’m looking forward to joining the team at such an exciting time.”

Bénédicte qualified in Paris as an Avocat à la Cour in 1996 and began her career with Lovell White Durrant. Having started as a corporate and finance lawyer, Bénédicte then focused her practice on corporate and regulatory insurance and financial services lawyer. She qualified as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales in 1999.

Orsolya began her career with Gide Loyrette Nouel in their Budapest office before moving to the Paris office and being admitted to the Paris Bar in 2001.
