Regulatory - Mining

The world’s premier non-ferrous metals market, the London Metals Exchange, is approved as a recognised investment exchange by the FSA. The LME is responsible for the operation of the market whilst the FSA is responsible for regulating the financial soundness and conduct of the LME members’ business.

Mining and metals transactions may also involve derivatives. Certain derivatives may trigger complicated regulatory issues that require specialist regulatory advice.

Our financial services practice includes regulatory advice on the scope of the regulatory regime and compliance with the FSA rules, structuring derivatives and fund transactions to minimise the regulatory burden and drafting and negotiating market documentation.

The team is closely involved with UK and European regulatory reform, and members of the team have direct experience of working within bodies such as the Financial Services Authority.
