Carbon Capture and Storage

‘The best firm for renewables work bar none.’ Norton Rose’s ‘lawyers pride themselves on staying ahead of market trends’ and ‘demonstrate understanding of the technical aspects of transactions’. Legal 500, 2010

We have been at the forefront of thinking on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) for a number of years. We have recognised from the outset that the legal challenges of CCS are not confined to a narrow practice area. Best advice must involve bringing specialists in the carbon markets, environmental law and on the relevant conventions such as UNCLOS together with experts in project finance, offshore oil and gas, pipelines, in order to pool their experience.

We have been working this way to deepen our understanding of the CCS sector throughout our global energy and infrastructure practices. We are currently advising on CCS demonstration projects in the UK and on large scale CCS developments in the UKCS.
