Financial services
Our highly specialised German financial services team helps clients to structure their business in the most efficient way, minimising regulatory burdens while complying with relevant regulations.
Our financial services team also advises on financial services advisory and transactional matters, including new product launches and contractual documentation.
We have a particular focus on investment fund and investment management issues, helping investment managers to sell their products and expertise to German institutional and private clients.
The team works closely with our tax team, which offers indispensable assistance when it comes to structuring tax-driven investment products.
Team and reputation
The German financial services/investment management group offers full service across the retail and wholesale financial services spread of work. The 10-strong team of lawyers and tax advisors is led by partners Caroline Herkströter, Martin Krause and Ludger C. Verfürth.
We have been ranked in Band 3 of Chambers 2011, according to which "this 'dream team' has wide-ranging expertise that includes regulatory law and alternative investments, as well as tax and litigation. It acts for the larger asset management firms on cutting-edge issues.”
According to the Legal 500 EMEA 2012 edition, “Norton Rose has been advising clients on the implementation of UCITS IV, recently advised three capital investment firms regarding new regulations regarding real estate funds, and advised clients on liability issues pertaining to investor information.”
And the 2010/2011 edition of the German JUVE handbook ranked the practice as "[...] recommended for banking and regulatory law, which surprised by its strength in transactions. Norton Rose was involved in some of the bigger transactions in the sector which so far have been reserved for other top of the market practices [...]."
