Awareness and training
Anti bias training
This initiative has been designed by our Learning and Development team in partnership with an external consultancy specialising in diversity and inclusion training. It covers how biases may arise throughout the employment cycle.
Professional conduct and ethics training
As part of induction, all legal staff participate in a short training course on best practice in professional conduct and ethics. This course is also made available online for legal staff in all our offices to download and familiarise themselves with.
Online “Diversity Challenge” course
80 per cent of London office partners and staff have completed our online “Diversity Challenge” course, which takes about 30 minutes to work through and finishes with a short assessment to maximise understanding. The course has also been rolled out in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It focuses on raising awareness around diversity, inclusion and equality issues and covers topics such as stereotyping, challenging inappropriate behaviour, factors to be aware of in recruitment and selection, being aware of prejudices, and creating and supporting an inclusive environment. It was designed by our Learning and Development Team in conjunction with an external consultancy specialising in diversity and inclusion training.
Career Strategies Programme
To help us encourage our talented female associates to remain with us into and beyond partnership and to meet our aim of increasing our gender diversity at partner level we have designed and launched a global development programme tailored to facilitate their professional development. Our first programme was held in London in May 2010. The programme is modular in nature and runs over a number of months. It covers topics such as gender dynamics, managing stakeholders, finance, business development and includes mentoring and coaching.
