Marcus Archer focuses on public and private equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, reorganizations and purchases and sales of businesses, acting for both corporations and investment bankers. He also assists clients with corporate governance, regulatory compliance, continuous disclosure and general corporate matters.
Mr. Archer joined our Calgary office as an articling student in 1998 and became a partner in 2006.

Certain of the recent firm engagements Mr. Archer has led or been principally involved in include the following:
- Acting for the underwriters in respect of Tervita Corporation's issuance of US$650 million and C$200 million of senior notes (Canadian Counsel), Tervita Corporation's issuance of US$290 million of senior notes (Canadian counsel), Western Energy Services Corp.'s issuance of $175 million of senior notes, Flint Energy Services Ltd.'s issuance of $175 million of senior notes and Freehold Royalties Ltd.'s public offering of $70 million of shares
- Trilogy Energy Corp.'s issuance of $300 million of senior notes and Paramount Resources Corp.'s issuance of $300 million of senior notes
- The Churchill Corporation's acquisition of Seacliff Construction Corp. for approximately $390 million pursuant to an arrangement under the BCBCA as well as its acquisition of McCaine Electric
- Paramount Resources Ltd.'s acquisition of ProspEx Resources Ltd. for approximately $185 million pursuant to an arrangement under the ABCA and the spinout and sale of certain oil and gas assets by Paramount
- The sale of Tundra Engineering Associates Ltd. to GENIVAR
- Paramount Resources Ltd.'s issuance of $370 million of senior notes and the purchase/redemption of its US notes
- Paramount Resources Ltd.'s $190 million secondary offering of Trilogy shares and its issuance of $156 million of common shares and $59 million of flow-through shares pursuant to public offerings
- Trilogy Energy Trust's conversion from an income trust structure to a corporate structure through a business combination with a private corporation pursuant to an arrangement under the ABCA and its post-conversion internal reorganization
- Lockerbie & Hole Inc.'s IPO and secondary offering for approximately $150 million (the largest IPO that year) and the sale of Lockerbie to Aecon Group Inc. for approximately $200 million pursuant to an arrangement under the ABCA (industrial M&A deal of the year)
- Advising junior mining companies on option, joint venture and investment agreements with, among others, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Vale, Impala and HudBay and completing financings for the junior mining companies
