On April 20, 2012, Whitecap Resources Inc. (TSX:WCP), a western Canada light oil producer, acquired Midway Energy Ltd (TSX:MEL) for a total consideration of approximately C$450 million. Midway is a light oil weighted public company with its primary operations located in the Garrington area of Alberta where the majority of its production and reserves are focused in the Cardium formation.
